Introduction

I am a thirteen-year-old, eighth grade female. My name is Alexandria or Lexi or Alex. Most people call me Lexi though.

Once, meaning recently, I got asked what kind of furniture I would want to be. Well, I mean, I would love to be a bed. See, I’ve been tested for anemia. Though we believe I have anemia, the test showed I wasn’t. Even though, I’m always cold. In the summer, I wear hoodies. In my heated house, I wear hoodies. I personally want to be a bed because, with this new information I gave you, I would love to be always warm.

So, this next paragraph is about family so your probably expect a happy, sappy paragraph and it might be. To start it off, what about what are you most grateful for? I’m not going to lie; I’m most grateful for my family. They shower me with love, though I play it off as annoying. They feed me, they support me, they amuse me. One thing I wish they did more though is give me more privacy. What can money not buy? I think money can’t buy a loving family. Yes, it can like buy a family who will feed you and house you and clothe you, but will they love you? See, I’m lucky and both my parents are together. Though they fight, they still are together, and they love each other.

While we’re on the topic, the family I’m talking about is my three brothers, my parents, my grandparents, and my aunts, uncle, and cousins. Who is your least favorite sibling and why? My least favorite sibling is Kaiden. More really, both of the twins but I had to have just one so Kaiden. Though, both fight me, hurt me, steal my stuff, are always in my room, and are super annoying. Kaiden’s just a little worse though.

Relationships. Probably one of my weakest subjects. I’m talking about all relationships too. Romantic or friendly. Can you think of a time when impossible became possible? Well, once I had gotten into a big fight with multiple people. I became really sad and so I thought being happy again was impossible. My friends, Rylan and Skyler, decided to help cheer me up and eventually, I was really happy and on top of the world.

These next two kind of go together. How many friends would you trust with your life and who do you trust and why? I trust five of my friends with my life. Only five too. Ellie, Tristan, Rylan, Gabby, and Skyler. They know pretty much everything about me. Even things I haven’t told my parents. Who do I trust? Those five of my friends. My best friends. I trust them because I feel like I can trust them. So far, it hasn’t kicked me in the butt so, I’d say I win.

Free time, leisure time, relaxation time. Time, I have but fill with many more things. What do you do in your free time? I play sports, draw, read, musicals, band, and hang out with friends. What are your special talents? Honestly, probably my flute. I’m like really good, not going to lie. I have gotten a one on my solos for IGSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest. Which is the best you can get. Our band director has me doing a contest audition for the “best” players, so I mean, I think I’m good.

Why are you, you? Are you happy with yourself? What do you owe yourself? What are you sure of in your life? Questions I saved for last because they were harder to answer. Why are you, you? The way my parents raised me, my teachers, my friends, and my enemies all influence me. In one way or another. Good or bad. Most of the time good. Once, Skyler suggested me a song and now I listen to it along with other songs form the band often. Another time, Rylan told me I should do a play/musical. Now, I’m doing the musical and will do the musicals as long as I can.

Are you happy with yourself? Depends on the day and what happens. Right now, I’m very happy with myself. Today was a successful day; I did everything I needed to and more. Other days, I mess up on serving for volleyball and then the rest of the day I’m not happy with myself. What do you owe yourself? Easy answer, money. I buy so many small stupid things and later regret what I bought or regret not saving the money. One day, I spent lots of money on a volleyball game and by the end of the game, which was a tournament, I had no money and was hungry. What are you sure of in your life? My smarts. I consider myself pretty smart. Not just school smarts though. Street smarts, politics, stupid facts about random things that for some reason I can remember. My MAP scores can also prove that I’m pretty smart I bet too. It’s pretty much the only thing I’m certain won’t change. I learn fast and can remember it quite well.

I hope this was fun to read though it was a lot. Sometimes, I go a little overboard.

  1. Hi Lexi, I think it's really cool that your band director is having you do a contest audition for the 'best' player. I hope you do really well. What is your favorite type of music you listen to? How long have you been playing the flute? I like that you added enough details for everything. - Gabby.

    1. Thank you for commenting Gabby. I appreciate that.
I did well on my audition, though I didn't make it and punched a table. It seems like I've been playing my flute for longer than this, but I've been playing the flute for four years now.
To answer your question, I don't really have a favorite type of music to listen to.
Thank you for liking m amount of details. Sometimes, my teacher thinks I add too much!

  2. Hey Lexi,

I am very excited to get to know you through your blog. I look forward to reading your posts each week of the Student Blogging Challenge!

Did you know that I actually study ways that teachers use technology to help students learn? I earned my doctoral degree from the University of Florida and educational technology was the focus of my research.

Now, I teach teachers how to teach. That is, I teach at university (in North Carolina) where my students are studying in college to become classroom teachers.

I have enjoyed reading a little bit about you. I have five kids (the oldest is 14 and the youngest is 2) and I think that some of them can probably relate to your sibling woes. One thing that I especially love about your blog is your openness and honesty.

    Happy blogging!
    -Dr. Lowder :)
